Meet Sarah, Class of 2006

BS Nutrition/Dietetics, Currently Pursuing MA in Nutrition Education

Hi! My name is Sarah, I graduated in 2006 with a degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and I am currently continuing at Immaculata in the graduate program for Nutrition Education. I obviously really love IU! I knew Immaculata was meant for me the moment I stepped on campus. Immaculata was the first college I visited, and I was instantly hooked. The gorgeous architecture and incredibly friendly people made IU stand out in my head during the college selection process.

I really loved my 4 years at IU as an undergrad. I had so many opportunities to make wonderful friends, make professional connections, and draw my plans for my future. I took advantage of what IU had to offer me, and I have accomplished more than I ever imagined. I accepted several leadership positions such as Vice President of my class for two years, President of my Honor Society for three years, President of the Student Dietetic Association for three years, and was a member of several clubs including Campus Ministry, Family Consumer Sciences Club, Chorale, and Circle K. I did a lot, and I loved every second of it.

I really have to give credit to IU for helping to make me a very well rounded person. I received a wonderful education and had a great time while doing it. Who could ask for more?

Meet Missy, Class of 2005

BA Fashion Marketing

I have been working in management for the retail company Aeropostale since graduation while I interviewed for several positions.
Just yesterday (Fall 2005), I was offered a position with the Philip Van Heusen corporation, and I accepted it.  I will be working as a "Purchase Order Expediter" in their Geoffrey Beene division.
During my interview for this position, I met with four different people, none of whom had ever heard of a fashion marketing major.  As I explained to them what the major was all about - that it was an integration of fashion and business skills designed to give a complete  background and knowledge of the industry - they all began to look at me as more of an asset.  I was not the typical fashion major that they come across who only learns the processes of designing and making clothes (which is very important for this position/industry).  I had a well-rounded business education as well.
I strongly believe that the nature of my degree helped to stack the deck in my favor against other applicants they interviewed.  One of my interviewers actually remarked that my degree alone, without any of my other experience or qualifications, made me better prepared for this position than others he had talked to.
I just wanted to pass all this along to you... People do notice the difference.

Meet Jenn, Class of 2004

BA Business Administration, Minor in Marketing

Hi my name is Jenn (far right), and I graduated from IU in 2004!  I transferred to IU my sophomore year and even though I was only here for three years I have been able to continue here at IU, just in a different capacity.  That is what brings me to my after Immaculata experience.  Now instead of sitting in the classroom I am working as a counselor in our Admissions Office.  These past few years I have had the unique opportunity to travel all around the area and talk about IU and all its different facets.  I absolutely love being able to help others see the possibilities of being an Immaculatan.  I have also gone back to school at Immaculata for a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.  People often tell me that I seem very excited and energetic about Immaculata and what it has to offer, well I am!  A huge reason for those feelings is the people here who I experienced my collegiate years with.  The friends I made here are incredible.  I am still close with them and talk to them every day!  Here are some pictures of us while we were students here:

Here is a quick update on some of the after IU experiences of some of my friends:

Cathy (top pic, far left) is a kidergarten teacher and is also in a Doctorial program here at IU!

Meredith (top pic, center), May 2005, BA Family and Consumer Sciences and Secondary Ed. Certification and is teaching Family and Consumer Sciences classes at Conestoga High School.

Kate (this picture, far right), May 2005, BA in History, just completed the paralegal program at Villanova University and has since started a new job at a firm just outside of Philadelphia!

Rhonda (this picture, top), who graduated IU in 2001, is also working for IU.  She began as an Admission Counselor and now works in the Student Affairs Department as the Assistant Director of Student Life and Development.  She is also currently enrolled in a Graduate program of IU.

Jennie (this picture, center) is working at her dream job with the Four-H.  She is living in Maryland happily married and having the time of her life!
