There are college sports legacies, and then theres Immaculata. For three years 1972, 1973, and 1974 the Mighty Macs womens basketball team was a dynasty like no other, three-peating as national champions. Not regional champions, not small college champions, but
national champions, as in the best in the country.
OK, you say, but that dynasty was 30 years ago. Well, true, but that wasnt just any dynasty that was a school of fewer than 1,000 students playing the finest hoops in the world. Thats a tradition with staying power, and it inspires Immaculatas athletes today. PLUS, there is a movie currently being filmed about that three-peat coming to a theatre near you soon! (Check out the HOME page for more info!)
The college sports world has changed in those 30 years, and todays athletes compete in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III. Theyve earned accolades on and off the field Immaculata ranks third highest in Division III in the graduation rate for athletes, and more than 30 were named to the PAC All-Academic team for two years in a row. And as for dynasties, maybe its time you helped the Mighty Macs start another one.
